Celebration not regeneration in Piccadilly

Manchester’s Piccadilly area has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past decade, but the time has come to celebrate what is on offer there now, rather than reiterating the ‘regeneration story’, says The Piccadilly Partnership, whose objectives are to promote and drive change in the Piccadilly area.

The Piccadilly Partnership has seen a number of partners continuing to benefit from occupier confidence in the area and says there is plenty of evidence to support the notion that Piccadilly is fighting off the current economic storm.

Bruntwood, one of the Partnership’s strongest advocates, has noticed occupier confidence remain high, with only 3% of office space now available in one of Piccadilly’s most recognisable buildings, City Tower.

Janet Dunnett, chief executive of Piccadilly Partnership said; “it’s rewarding to hear and see the confidence that partners have in the area - the more businesses that relocate to Piccadilly, the more it underlines the fact that the existing amenities, including historic and new buildings, transport, retail and great restaurants, are maintaining its position as an attractive office location.  Regeneration is still vital for the area, but we must not forget to celebrate what is in Piccadilly now.”

'A vibrant area of growth'

Anne Dobie, partner at law firm Weightmans who are based in Piccadilly commented; "Piccadilly is re-emerging as a vibrant area of growth. The transport links are excellent, making it an ideal place to work and do business. The Argent/ Carlyle Bream Excellent Rated building to which we re-located last year provides first class office accommodation and is ideally placed to be accessible to employees and clients alike.

“The Piccadilly Partnership is all about building a quality working environment for all and Weightmans LLP and the other partners are committed to keep improving the Piccadilly area".

Partner and developer Frogmore Northern recently achieved something that seemed impossible in the current economic climate; a huge letting of 33,000 square feet at Universal Square, lending further evidence that confidence is high in Piccadilly.

Carl Wright, managing director of the Cartel Group commented; “Moving to Universal Square was an excellent business decision for the Cartel Group. We have huge scope for growth and the Piccadilly area has tremendous transport links for all our staff. There is so much potential within Piccadilly; so much so, we believe Cartel will be here for many years to come!”
