NCP, the UK's largest car parking company, has announced trials of a brand new facial recognition software at The Grand car park on Chatham Street.
As part of NCP Manchester's constant review of car park security, the CCTV cameras at The Grand will now link to both the facial recognition software and the Manchester Operations Centre (MOC).
Supplied by Reliance Security, the software enables instant recognition of known vehicle crime offenders and immediately triggers a database alert when they enter the car park. The alert is received by the MOC and Greater Manchester Police, and patrols will be immediately sent to the car park. At a speed of one million face recognitions per second, the technology ensures high accuracy for the security team, and real peace of mind for customers.
Steve Pyle, NCP regional managing director commented: "At NCP, the safety and security of our customers and their vehicles is paramount. We are constantly reviewing our security measures to identify new ways in which we can improve the safety of our car parks, and it was with this in mind that we decided to introduce highly accurate facial recognition software. We are looking forward to seeing the results."
