Hungry Pigeon returns to Piccadilly Gardens - Saturday 29 May 2010

Following a hugely successful inaugural year in 2009, which saw 15,000 revellers attend throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, Hungry Pigeon is back bigger and better for 2010.

Taking place between 28 – 30 May 2010, Piccadilly Gardens will once again play host to the festival’s main stage. A capacity crowd of 5,000 can enjoy confirmed headline act Athlete* on Saturday 29 May, who will share the stage with Misty's Big Adventure, The Jessie Rose Trip and Manchester Samba School. More acts are set to be unveiled closer to the event.

The main stage in the Gardens is totally free and has been supported by Manchester City Council and Visit Manchester. This year’s stage will be hosted by XFM DJ and former Inspiral Carpets member Clint Boon who commented; "You can't help feel with the Hungry Pigeon Festival that it's another Manchester success story in the making. Check back in 5 years’ time and I'm sure it'll be one of the most talked about annual events in the city's live music calendar."

The arts and music event builds on its success from last year which saw the likes of Kid British, Nine Black Alps and The Travelling Band performing to capacity crowds. The festival was also nominated in the UK Festival Awards for Best Metropolitan Festival alongside the likes of Camden Crawl and Liverpool Sound City, representing Manchester as the only festival nominated.

With an incredible schedule live art, poetry, short films, under 18s events, art exhibitions, busking and even its very own Northern Quarter art treasure trail, Hungry Pigeon has something for everyone!

*Guaranteed entry to Athlete in Piccadilly Gardens with a Saturday or weekend wristband / entry without wristband subject to capacity.
