Manchester city centre noise issues - everything you need to know...

Many of us have been on the receiving end of noisy neighbours or rowdy passersby at some point. If it's once in a while, it's bearable, but if it becomes a regular thing and starts to affect your day-to-day life, then you need to do something about it.
Below you will find lots of helpful (we hope!) information about noise issues and who to contact if the problem becomes too much.

Loud music from neighbours


If you live in a residential apartment block and suffer from noise nuisance from another resident, such as loud parties and/or continuous music, contact;

General Noise Issues


The Public Protection Team, part of Environmental Health, deal with:

  • Domestic noise complaints including barking dogs, loud shouting and banging of doors
  • Commercial noise, including noise from construction sites, noise from licensed premises and outdoor events
  • Building/car alarms that are continually or intermittently sounding for extended periods of time and causing a noise nuisance.

Street Cleaning Services


The streets in Manchester city centre need to be cleaned more often than in other neighbourhoods due to the high footfall in the area.
The streets are cleaned in the evenings or early mornings, so if you live in the city centre and are having an issue with street cleaning, then contact Environment on Call on 0161 954 9000. A member from street sleaning will contact you to discuss the issue.

Public Transport and Bus Stops


The city centre is serviced by many transport companies working throughout the day and night to service the needs of the city and the thousands of people who use it on a daily basis.

Screaming & Shouting in the Street


This type of behaviour is unacceptable and is classed as anti-social behaviour. Tackling this issue is difficult, but we are committed to working with residents to find solutions to their problems. Please report all incidents as follows:
