More than 10,000 people took part in the Manchester Picnic event at the weekend, leading to organisers deeming the event "a massive success".
Piccadilly Gardens was home to the central hub of picnic activity across the three day event and was transformed into a traditional picninc area, complete with picnic tables, gingham table cloths and bunting.
A particular highlight was the teddy bears' picnic, which saw Build A Bear's Bearemy and Baby Ballet's Twinkle the Bear entertain the large number of children in attendance. Virgin Gym set up a stall to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle and Warburtons packed our 3,000 goodie bags with healthy snacks.
Vaughan Allen, chief executive of Cityco, Manchester's city centre management company said: "Despite the less than perfect picnic weather, 10,000 people visited the main site at Piccadilly Gardens alone. It was amazing to see everyone walking around with smiles on their faces.
"This is just the start of our work to revitalise city centre open spaces, making them safe, family-friendly places to be."
Market stalls, featuring Caribbean, delicatessen and cupcake stands, also proved popular in Piccadilly.
