Flight Centre came to the rescue of thousands of customers last month, following the disruption caused by the volcanic eruption.

More than 200 extra staff were rostered on to man a dedicated 'Volcano Emergency Team' 24 hours a day. In addition, the team in the Piccadilly centre helped to:

• Contact all affected customers, either in the UK or abroad
• Rebook alternative routes home and alternative accommodation
• Extend Flight Centre insurance cover for those stranded
• Extend opening hours to provide extra support to concerned customers

Customers who booked online rather than through an agent may not have had access to this kind of support.
