Last month’s competition asked for you to submit photographs of what the Piccadilly area meant to you.That’s a pretty tough task, but many of you stepped up to the plate and entered some great shots.
With an eclectic number of entries, it was left to the Piccadilly Partnership’s marketing action group to decide on the final three winners. The group were impressed with a large number of the entries, and left speechless by others (and not always in a good way!)
Anyway, to the winners;
1st place - R.Bradley, untitled (main image)
The group thought this was a shot with great composition and enjoyed the angle it was taken from. People often ignore the London Road area of Piccadilly, usually focusing on more central Piccadilly. However, with a nice balance of light, this was a welcome winner!
2nd place - P. McCaul, The Manchester Whistler
The group felt the orange / red effect really helped to capture the emotion of this shot.
3rd place - Mariusz Kwiatkowski, The Gardens at Night
This group really enjoyed seeing this image of Piccadilly Gardens at night. It is unusual for the Gardens to be empty, but the lack of people in this shot highlights the continuing activity in the area’s businesses.
Special mention - P. McCaul, Manchester Flower
The group felt this image deserved a special mention, as a large amount of work had obviously gone into it.
Piccadilly Gardens is seen as an attractive flower complete with the Manchester bee, which here relates to the vibrancy of the gardens.
